LEGENDS OF ANCIENT IRELAND MURAL ©David Lovegrove 2011

This is a gallery of photographs of a mural I designed and painted back in '99 at Scruffy Murphy's Irish pub in Sydney.

I have always been inspired by the ancient myths & legends of the peoples of the world,
and as many of my ancestors came from Ireland I was thrilled to be commissioned to create this mural.

The theme was legendary musicians, and so we see the 'origin of the harp', the king played to sleep each night by the music of Etain the beautiful girl transformed by a witch into a musical fly, and the Celtic warrior playing the single drone Irish War pipes, as the great Sun hero Cu Chulaind charges past in his chariot.
